Finally, it’s sail off day! Everyone was excited and arrived on the boat at 5am to get everything ready. We hoisted the yankee and stay at around 0830am. What a sunny day! The sea water was mint green and the sunlight sparkling on it. Yet it’s still cold.
Rico, Thomas, Joseph and me were on the first watch, with fully understanding of the risk of fishing boats and nets, we kept our eyes on them. Thomas found 3 white boxes in a line in the first 10 minutes, nice spot!
Our watch started working again at 4pm. The sea water has changed into dark blue. It’s a bit windy and slightly wavy. Music was on. Everyone was on his or her duty, while enjoying the fantastic sea view and pleasant breeze. It’s the first time in my life in the middle of the ocean - no island, no boat and no animals. Sunset was behind us, making the sky into several orange and pink layers. The sky in front of us was light purple- so romantic and surreal.
This reminds me of the book ‘the old man and the sea’ by Ernest Miller Hemingway, humans are powerless against nature. But we are courageous and resilient.
Dark is coming, good luck on the first night.
